SUSTY Joins ECOMAISON

A New Milestone in Sustainable Interior Design

Let’s make every decorative choice a conscious act of revalorization.

Every decision matters. We are proud to announce our official membership in ECOMAISON, the French eco-organization approved to manage the collection, sorting, recycling, and reuse of furniture and decorative materials.

This marks a foundational step in our mission to build a circular and responsible model for interior design one that involves everyone: consumers, suppliers, and industry professionals. By joining ECOMAISON, SUSTY actively contributes to end-of-life management of decorative items to ensure that no material is unnecessarily wasted.

What Is Eco-Contribution?

Eco-contribution (or eco-fee) is a charge included in the sale price of eligible products (furniture, bedding, home textiles, décor). It funds the collection, sorting, reuse, and recycling of items at the end of their life cycle.
It is not a tax but a practical tool to support the circular economy and give materials a second life. Manufacturers and distributors collect it and transfer the contributions to the approved eco-organization in this case, ECOMAISON.

How Does the Recycling Cycle Work?

With ECOMAISON, the cycle is clearly structured to maximize reuse and minimize waste:

  • Eco-contribution added at sale based on the product’s nature, materials, and weight

  • Declaration and transfer: SUSTY declares and transfers contributions to ECOMAISON regularly

  • Collection: Used items are collected via drop-off points (recycling centers, reuse shops, partner stores)

  • Sorting and processing: Items are sorted, repaired, reused, or recycled depending on their condition

  • New cycle: Reused materials are reintegrated into new product manufacturing

Why Does It Matter?

This approach enables SUSTY to:

  • Take active part in reducing waste in the decoration sector

  • Enhance traceability and transparency across the product life cycle

  • Guide customers toward more conscious and sustainable consumption

  • Anticipate future EU regulatory obligations, such as the Digital Product Passport (DPP)

A Collective Momentum

  • Suppliers integrate eco-design

  • Consumers are informed and engaged

  • Local players partner in recycling efforts

A Stronger Circular Commitment

In development:

  • Blockchain traceability tools

  • Impact calculator

  • Digital Product Passport for every fabric

With ECOMAISON, SUSTY is taking concrete action for a more transparent, circular décor industry.

Together, let’s make every decorative element an act of revalorization.
